A message from the CFY Youth Coalition: “Today is the first day of National Red Ribbon Week! Did you know that Red Ribbon Week is the largest drug-abuse prevention campaign in the nation? Next Wednesday, Oct. 28th, wear red for GO RED DAY to support being part of a substance free community!
Are you interested in reading a psychological thriller with a killer twist? If so, book club’s first pick of the year is right up your alley. We will be reading and discussing the book 13 Minutes by Sarah Pinborough. If you’re interested in joining the fun, please request to join the Book Club group on Schoology or send Mrs. Mickley a message on schoology.
Do you ride your car to school? If, yes, you do need a parking pass. In order to receive a parking pass please go to the High School website and look under quick links.
Do you want Halloween to be a little extra spooky this month? Bag-the-Bounty gives students the chance to wear their Halloween costumes to school. All the student body has to do is donate at least 500 items by October 23. Look for the Bag-the-Bounty box in each classroom for more information. Help make a difference in your community!
Attention Class of 2022 Juniors! Please attempt to sell for our Fundraiser which ends October 30. We are selling coffee, tea, granola, beef jerky, and popcorn. If you haven’t done so by now, please access the information for this fundraiser in a Schoology group titled Class of 2022 (Fundraising). We are asking that everyone try to sell at least 10 items. Any questions, please see or message Mr. Zimmerman or Mrs. McCauslin.
Attention JUNIORS, the WHK Internship application will be opening October 14th!!! Started in 1989 WHK SIP was designed to expose high school seniors to research and administrative management in a health care environment. Scientific interns experience the basic methods of biomedical research through “hands-on” laboratory training. Students in the internships in support of science/research are assigned projects in areas such as programming, information technology, graphics and media, bioinformatics, security, scientific writing and analytics.
*Apply as a high school junior (must be 17 prior to start of the internship)
*Internship opportunities available in the lab (wet lab) and in support of science (dry lab)
* Eight (8) consecutive weeks (40 hrs/week) during the summer before senior year(stipend of approximately $4000)
* 3 hours per day, every day school is in session, during senior year
(4 weighted credits upon completion of the program)
MUST have Transportation to participate!
Application opens October 14, 2020 and closes December 13, 2020
AMP (Academy for Media Production) invites you to their Virtual Open House on Saturday, November 14th at 10 a.m. You will have the opportunity to interact with faculty, get a virtual tour and learn more about their unique programs in Photography, Video, and Audio Production. An informational sheet is located at the student information table outside of the high school office for anyone interested in this opportunity.
