  • 2023 Envirothon
    2023 Envirothon

Our middle school students placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in Soils and 1st place in Forestry at the 2022-2023 Envirothon. The Envirothon is a natural resource environmental education program that combines classroom learning and outdoor activities. This exposure to nature and seeing how humans impact the natural world provide invaluable lessons for understanding ecosystems and our environment.  At the Envirothon, the teams compete in field testing using their knowledge in four topic areas: Soils, Wildlife, Aquatics, and Forestry. At each station, the students were given a short lesson from an expert and then took an exam as a team. Afterwards, the students enjoyed a presentation from Zoo America. The students competed at Adams County Conservation District, which also hosted the event.  Multiple schools in the surrounding area were also in attendance.

  • We are so excited about our German partner school visiting Fairfield. The partnership developed through pen pal letter exchanges and brought a real German learning experience to our Fairfield students. The first exchange started 5 years ago with Fairfield students visiting the Germans in 2018.  The Germans are visiting us with 18 students and 2 teachers. All students are staying with Fairfield Families from April 7th through April 14th. On April 10th, the German students and their Fairfield hosts took a tour through the Gettysburg Battlefield.  On April 11th, the Caroll Valley Mayor Ron Harris and the Fairfield Area School District welcomed the Germans to the area, while the FAHS Foreign Language Club treated the German guests and their hosts with a typical  American potluck.  The highlight of the week was the Washington D.C field trip on April 12th with a visit to the White House, the Capitol building, the Smithonian and the Pentagon Memorial. The German students are departing Fairfield on April 14th and travelling by train from Harrisburg to New York City.  After visiting New York City for a few days, they will fly back to Germany.
