What is Technology
We begin with a QUESTION- what is technology? We brainstorm all examples of technology the class can identify
We explain- Necessity is the mother of all invention?
is this true? how or why?
We Identify- students point out items in our classroom that they consider to be a technological advancement
We Partner Up- students must work together to complete the following task- Students create a time line using word with text boxes, word art, and imported pictures (all with proper formating) depicting and explaining the technological advancements for an item
- One partner completes the "early" history where as the other partner completes the "recent" history
- The time line must be in chronological
- The time line must depict and explain how the item has changed/improved over the time frame
- time line will be scored based on the following rubric

Lesson 1-- Open up a word document (this will be a notes page)
- Fill in the header with your full name, date, and assignment name (TIME LINE)
- Brainstorm all ideas that you think represent TECHNOLOGY in some way:
- Complete class activity and begin partnership- Go over expectations for TIME LINE
Lesson 2-- Introduce Internet search parameters www.Goodsearch.comGo over Text Box, Word Art and Image Formatting as needed

Lesson 3 and 4-- Begin FINAL COPY for Time Line
- Open up a NEW WORD DOCUMENT
- go to PAGE LAYOUT
- Change all MARGINS to .5 (gutters stay 0)
- Change ORIENTATION to LANDSCAPE (horizontal)
- SAVE as (your items name) HISTORY
- Draw lines as needed SAVE YOUR WORK
- Add text boxes as needed SAVE YOUR WORK
- Add pictures as needed SAVE YOUR WORK
- Format all to ensure proper placement SAVE YOUR WORK
- Add centered title in Word Art SAVE YOUR WORK
- Add in a text box by: (your complete name) below the Title
- By the WAY- did you SAVE YOUR WORK??
SUBSTITUTE DAY...You are going to watch a video showing how technology has changed and impacted history- once the site opens, TYPE your first and last name correctly capitalized in the SPACE to the left where it is asked for
- DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ANYWHERE ELSE, otherwise you will need to RESTART
- The video will be at the VERY top of the screen, just click the play button and follow any steps needed to access video player (use recommended settings)

Futuristic Design Plan WRITE UP
- you and your partner need to write (type) up a description of what you think your device will be like 20 years from now.
- give DETAILS
- BE specific
- most of all BE CREATIVE!!
- add a picture if you can by either internet search, computer drawing aspect or drawing by hand
- Print your futuristic idea with both partners names on it to the printer with 4050 in its name
